Brief Research Biography

My areas of research are differential geometry, wavelets, and mathematical aspects of signal processing.

Research Publications:

  1. "The Diameter Function on the Space of Space Forms", Comp. Math. 87(1993)79-83.
  2. (with Akram Aldroubi) "Oblique and biorthogonal multi-wavelet bases with fast-filtering algorithms", in Wavelet applications in signal and image processing, III (San Diego, CA, 1995), 15-26, Proc. SPIE, 2569, SPIE, Bellingham, WA, 1995.
  3. (with Catherine Searle) "Diameters of Spaces Resulting from Cohomogeneity 2 Actions on Spheres", preprint, available in both dvi or plain tex.
Invited presentations:

  1. Instituto de Matematicas, Unidad Cuernavaca-UNAM, Cuernavaca, Mexico, March 20-28, 1999.
  2. Howard University, Washington, D.C., Seminar on Vector Bundles and Sheaves, several talks on diameters of manifolds with bounded curvature, April 1998.
  3. Trinity College, Washington, D.C., April 1992, colloquium lecture.
  4. American University, Washington, D.C., February 1992, colloquium lecture.
  5. Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, April 1991, colloquium lecture.
Current research interests: Currently I am working on various projects related to the understanding of the geometry of the quotient spaces Sn/G, where G is a compact, connected Lie group, acting isometrically on Sn, the standard sphere in Rn+1 of radius 1. Also, I am exploring various applications of wavelets to signal and image processing.
